What ‘controlled’ means?

Controlled means that our dictionary will not newly (in an original way) define its vocabulary but will mediate in the transmission of already established lexicographic knowledge. “Original” definitions we are stating as those which make a new, proprietary spin of an object, preceded by proper research and reflection. Meanwhile, in our dictionary, the definitions will be taken from other, authoritative, existing sources, and the process of research and reflection will be limited to finding resources of definitions in individual language and choosing the best of them (sometimes, if the lexicographic view of a definition turns out to be vague or shaky, it will need making a comment or confronting several definitions). Basing on existing definitions will deny need of discussions on the validity or correctness of definitions (which come up with each new definition). It is important to emphasize here that the definitions do not have to be derived solely from dictionaries. They can also come from encyclopaedias, standards, textbooks, monographs or articles – in a nutshell: all possible documents which are published (it means that they have to be perpetuated and disseminated), and considered as reliable. It will be the language editors’ job to estimate which definition reflects best the meaning of the object in his or her language. If necessary, we highly recommend this estimation to be consulted with other academics (e.g. by short article in journal or by discussion on conference).
